Made in the USA: How to Improve the U.S. Economy
The United States, and its 50 states, own valuable rights to many American landmarks, from Yosemite to the White House, from the U.S.S. Midway to American colleges and universities. Yet at the same time we allow souvenirs from our national parks, colleges, and even Naval vessels to be imported.
I visited Yosemite National Park this summer. Every T-Shirt, sweatshirt and hat with Yosemite emblazoned on it was imported. The U.S. government has the right to require products using the name of America's national parks to be made in the United States. Without a doubt, the U.S. government can require products sold in National Parks to be American made.
Recently, I also visited the U.S.S. Midway, an aircraft carrier docked in San Diego. The Midway was built during World War II, served in Vietnam and the First Gulf War. The gift shop on board was selling "U.S.S. Midway" hats and T-shirts. Ironically, the hats were made in Vietnam.
Further, did you know that most American flags are made in China? We should ban the importation of American flags.
Join me in writing President Obama and your Congressmen and Senators and object to outsourcing of products with American logos on them.
